NEED AND ANSWER TO A QUESTION
ABOUT LAMPWORK, BEADS, TOOLS?
JUST ASK, WE'LL DO OUR BEST TO GIVE YOU
THE INFORMATION YOU SEEK.

I am just getting starting at lampworking and we are building
a new home so I will have room for a studio. I did all of my work up to
now on a Hot Head torch with fans blowing to an open window. I just
bought a GTT Lynx but not sure how to proceed on designing my studio. I
need some help on what things I should include while we are building. I
would like to have a ventilation system put in but I can’t find much
information at all on line. Do you have any suggestions? My studio has
one interior wall, one exterior wall with no windows, one exterior wall
with a large window and it is a one store home. I am thinking something
that vents out the exterior wall?

Also, we are having a gas tank buried in the yard for the stove and I
have the option of running an extra drop to the studio. Would you
recommend this?

Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated!

Happy beading!
Amy

Hi Amy..
We are definitely not experts when it comes to ventilation. However,
we can tell you that you do need a constant air exchange in
your space. You need fresh air coming in ALL THE TIME, possibly
through a window. The gaseous air has to be pulled out of the space
via an exhaust fan mounted in or near the ceiling in the vicinity
of your workbench. Check with your local heating and ventilation
contractor about the size exhausy fan required for your space
according to your local building codes.
As for the propane, for soft glass such as Moretti or
Bullseye you will need as much as 5 pounds pressure. You might want to
consider the possibility of working in Boro sometime in the future
in which case you will need up to 10 pounds of pressure. Check
with you supplier to determine the amount of pressure for household
use.
In setting up your workspace, you may want to consider
facing away from the wall when working. Take advantage of the
view from the window. Create a comfortable environment to
inspire your craft.
